Melting Pot is warming up to New Jersey.
As part of a strategic expansion effort, the popular fondue restaurant franchise aims to launch four new locations across the state over the next few years. Melting Pot says it will target the areas of Jersey City, Belleville and Princeton as potential sites. The company also says it could have at least two spots up and running by 2028.
Founded 50 years ago, Melting Pot is known for offering a variety of fondue cooking styles and unique entrées. It also serves salads, fine wines, spirits and fondue desserts.
Within the U.S. and Canada, the Tampa-based brand has 90 restaurants. Locally, it can be found in Red Bank and Maple Shade. In June 2024, Melting Pot closed its Westwood restaurant. At the time, it said that the landlord sold the property and new ownership had other plans for the space.
Mixing it up
Over the past year, Melting Pot has continued to make progress on a system-wide remodeling initiative. That includes rolling out a new happy hour program. So far, the move has yielded a 5% increase in bar sales, according to a recent press release.
In a statement, CEO Bob Johnston said, “2024 was a landmark year of transformation for Melting Pot. We completed 65 restaurant remodels last year alone as a part of our Melting Pot Evolution design initiative and we have another 16 planned for this year.”
“As we celebrate 50 years of the perfect night out, we recognize and appreciate the profound impact Melting Pot has had on the lives of our guests – celebrating many of life’s most important milestones alongside them and their loved ones over these many decades. We’re launching into the year stronger than ever, with modernized restaurants, innovative programs driving growth and a clear vision for the future,” he said.
